I LOVE YOU LORD AND I WANT TO SERVE YOU.SAJC's first CHRISTIAN UNITED camp!!!!!!! goin by faith, i did not know what to expect. hmm, why did i even sign up? i guess i was excited about a christian camp with fellow saints! like WHOA.. out of my common group of GEFC friends, my comfort christian group but now, a camp with people i dun even know yet! by the sound of the name, i inferred that it would be a camp that would start the bonds between christians in school and then we will be sent out there, influencing our sphere of friends. Yeah, thats it. sounds interesting. i was excited. and then, i was scared. "wat if it doesn't turn out well? won't i be more discouraged about school?" i took the leap of faith.
BUT NOOOOOO.. God had bigger plans! =P we did not have sermons, but, we had ENVISIONING, we had MINISTRY WORKSHOPS, and of course, GAMEEEEESS =P hahas! 5 ministries: worship. fellowship. evangelism. ministry(serving). prayer. anyways, it was a tough decision. i did not know where i was called to go. so i went along with the most comfortable: worship! hahas. then i thot bout' it. "no. this is what i have alot of exposure in GEFC. already in the worship team and learning so much from the worship team and pastor andrew. ok change." then i headed over to fellowship! hahas. "easy. i lovee having fun and enjoying the bonds with fellow christians and be surrounded by company,friends and just having fun. then again, no. i could do this easily. it's my nature. i had so many ideas already! ok, change." rahhhh.. dunno where to go alr!
next day, mentor matthew was discussing with us the different spiritual gifts we each have. guess guess! me?
number 1: Hospitality, i like making new comers feel welcome. (well, a teensy bit true i guess, but i dun tink i'm nice by nature.. muahahahas =P)
number 2: (got 3!) Faith, Showing mercy and Encouraging/Exhorting. COOL. HAHAS. never thot i would be merciful(muahahahas), and show faith? heeheex =P the rest, is for you to interpret in whatever way you want to.. =P
yepps. then Matthew went on to say that no one actually signed up for the evangelism ministry. i.. thot about it. EVANGELISM. hahas. hmmm.. thats like one of my weaker aspect. And, it's my name's meaning, my intended purpose on earth! DRAMA abit =P hahas. pardon me.. eh heh.. but still, my name eh. cannot be meaningless.. my parents wanted me to spread the love, spread the gospel. okokies. next STEP OF FAITH. evangelism, here i comeee... wahahahs.. so i went up to rachel and said "erm.. can i change to evangelism. hahas"
so on foreign grounds i treaded. hahas =P during lunch, vincent asked who was goin to join evangelism. hahas. a lonely soul raised up her hand =P hahahas.. yea yea.. cool lah =P i din feel lonely, hahas, surprisingly.. when he asked again, 5 hands shot up. WHOAAAAAA.. the influence of EVANGELINE pulling the crowd. hahas! okokies, nahh, not my power, but the power of God's prompting. still, it was cool.
i've learnt so much thru the session! we were shown 2 videos, 'Cultivating compassion for the lost',one about a fireman who watched a family of 5 burn in a burning building but did nothing and shocked many. And then it says that by not spreading the gospel, we are doing very much the same, allowing others to burn in hell and not bothering to show a concern by spreading the gospel.that was a scary truth(:O)and the other video is 'Hell's best kept secret'. WOW. these videos really opened my eyes to so many fresh insights. On one of the evangelistic events in the states, about 284 000++ (can't remember the exact figures) received Christ. But the sad fact was that when checked, only about that 84 000 were regularly attending a bible study group, thats's over 200 000 backsliders! they lost so many. the thing is that in most evangelistic events, the people are always promised all the good things- love, joy, peace, happiness, forgiveness,"Salvation is free","God loves you"...... but they fail to let the people know that by receiving Christ, the amount of life's challenges and obstacles still exist, God did not promise a smooth sailing life. Hence, we looked at the bible, the story where the prince approached Jesus and asked, "what do i have to do to receive salvation? and go to heaven." And Jesus said, that he has to obey all 10 commandments and the prince replied that he had done his best. Then Jesus said, "now, sell all that you have and follow me" and the prince walked away, disappointed. jesus did not offer all the good things despite knowing that He would have lost the young man. Because, the gospel comes with BEARING the cross. And then, the video went on to show us the approach, that prevents us to be too offensive when sharing the gospel.
okies, other than that, i made many new friends! and the FOOOOD was GOOOOD =P hahahahaas! buffet on the last night. and we watched so many movies: Facing the Giants, and so many more on the last night =P heh heh.. although i fell asleep at parts of it. i love our bunks, super spacious and the air con was shiok to the max =P hahas. and and, worship was fun. the people were funny, i gotta find fun ppl each with their special gifts. yea yea. i lovee Anette's voice!! i get mesmorized.. hahahas.. love it =P oh oh, the floor we slept on was hard though and on the first nightm din sleep very well, but doesn't matter, thats the fun of camps. i more trtured, the more fun. hahas. tokin bout torture. We had to do push-ups as punishments even after we broke camp(10:30am)! hahas. but i found it as a good opportunity to realise that the journey may be tough, but we have to serve each other, help one another out, it's all part of being in the body of Christ. CHRISTIAN UNITED. united we stand, together we soar. reflects that even after this camp, we gotta continue the united spirit and team spirit and hold on tightly to the dream of the gospel coming thru in SAJC. thats our goal, touching lives.
after the camp, some of us headed down to Terminal 3 and had POPEYES for lunch!! more fellowship and even fewer of us headed to Starbucks to get a drink, i went cos i had the promise of a car ride home.. wahahahs =P and so, sat there till 3+. it was fun, crapping and learning more about each mentor. they are a fun group of people and looking at their passion for God, i am inspired. joke joke jokes. =P hahas.. yeah, so thats bout it for camp.. looks like quite a journey eh? :P
Well, i could have been in Germany enjoying myself. i could be in Germany absorbing in the breath-taking scenery. i could be in Germany bonding with the Youth Ambassadors! but noooooooo.. because of the cancellation of this trip, i'm able to attend both the CHRISTIANS UNITED camp AND church camp!! notice the trend. =P hahas. Definitely more fruitful and it has opened my eyes to the ma ny possibilities to serve God even when i enter university. no matter what my future holds, i want to TRUST in God, let Him take the lead and i humbly obey. It's a lesson of placing my pride down, rid myself of myself and let the Spirit consume me.
This is my dream in life, this is who i want to be, i want to make full use of my youth for God alone, for it is the most meaningful way of life. Then in the future, i can look back without regrets. yeahhhh.. way to go.
